When Respite prepared to open its doors, I had the opportunity to translate the feeling of the space into a capsule merchandise collection. More than creating branded goods, the challenge was to capture the warmth, hospitality, and sense of community that sits at the heart of the wine bar experience. Respite's identity feels intimate and approachable, and I wanted every piece to embody that same spirit.

Taking cues from the brand's thoughtful and sustainable ethos, I focused on creating elevated essentials that felt timeless rather than promotional. The collection was designed as a natural extension of the space, giving guests a tangible way to connect with the brand beyond a single visit while helping establish a merchandise system that felt authentic to Respite's welcoming character.

Background

Respite is a wine bar and bottle shop in Seattle's Wallingford neighborhood, created as a welcoming space for discovering thoughtfully sourced wines in a relaxed, community-focused setting. Centered around sustainable producers and transparent winemaking, the concept pairs a carefully curated wine selection with seasonal food offerings and warm, approachable hospitality.
